error message when using activesynch

L

les

All working well until a new software installation messed
up my Windows ME.

Now when I plug my Casio pocket PC into its USB cradle to
sync with Outlook 2000, I get an error message: "Outlook
has caused an error in MS09.DLL. Outlook will now close."
This does not happen if the PDA is plugged in when the
computer boots.

Would appreciate any help.

Try renaming the following files while all e-mail enabled applications are
closed and then do a detect and repair of Office 2000 via the add/remove
applet in the control panel.

outcmd.dat to outcmd.original
extend.dat to extend.original
mso9.dll to mso9.original

Thanks, Neo. Before I try your suggestion, I want to make
sure I understand it properly. I can rename the files.
But What is "detect and repair" - is that a choice I will
be given? I don't want to inadvertently remove Office,
which is the only choice I recall when using add/remove
for other programs. Afterwards, would I then need to
return the files to their original names (MSO9.DLL etc.?)

I have the same problem with a different sync program.
If you get an answer I would appreciate if you could
forward to me. Thanks

no. the detect and repair will bring in a new copy of mso9.dll. extend.dat
will get rebuilt from information in the registry. (outcmd.dat) any
menu/toolbar customization that where made will be lost.

it has been a while since i have used office 2000, but it should give you a
choice.
