Error message when saving to network share drive

We recently upgraded to Windows XP client with MS Office 2003. We noticed
an error message when saving Excel files. The files were created under
Office 2000 on Windows 2000 work stations. The message when saving the file
file after modifications is: "The file ( filename .xls) may have been
changed by another user since you last used it. In that case what do you
want to do? Save a copy ? Overwrite changes."

Has anyone seen this behavior? How do we make it stop?

could be one of a few reasons. Read
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=324491 to see if it
helps you, after which you'll probably agree that when writing about
network problems, the more info you can give about the pc's and
operating system, the better. One more suggestion I can give is Google
any MS Office error message and you will likely find what you're
looking for much faster since the likelihood that you are the first to
ask is pretty remote. That has proved very helpful to me in the past.
Good luck!
