error message @ turn on

V

vic

Upon turning on our HP PC, the following error comes up:

We apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not
start successfully.....

Choose (one of the following): Safe Mode/Safe Mode with
Networking/Safe Mode with command Prompt/Last Known Good
Config.../or Start Windows Normally.

NONE of these work and the message keeps re-appearing. In
following the HP website, getting into the set up screen
does not fix the issue.

Ideas ???

You should try your manual/HPs recommended repair procedure.

Failing that..

If you have the original Windows XP media (not a restore CD, but a real copy
of Windows XP.. Disconnect from the Internet (unplug network/phone line)
and perform a repair installation:

Perform a repair installation...

or

or

(All basically the same, pick the one you feel most comfortable reading - or
print them all and combine them. heh)

Thanks for the ideas. Already tried the HP as well as the Microsoft versions of repair but without any luck

I don't have an original XP disc...might have to track one down and try that next.

Any idea why this is happening ? I noticed a few others complaining of the same issue in another newsgroup

Appreciate any comments !
