Error Message Shared Contacts Activities Tab

I have a client who has given his assistant “Editor†rights to his Contacts
so that she can complete assigned work for him. The problem that I have is
that she is unable to see any information that is under the “Activities Tabâ€
for a contact in his shared contacts. If he (Contacts owner) looks under that
tab on any of his contacts it shows a list of all the traffic that he has had
with that contact.

When his assistant looks at the same tab on his shared contacts she gets the
following error:
“The operation failed. An object could not be found.â€

I have checked the following:
• Owner of contacts has given assistant “Editor†rights to his contacts.
• Owners, Contacts - Properties – All Items - all of the check boxes have
been checked off.

Our systems are:
Exchange 2003
Windows 2003 - AD in mixed mode
Office 2003 email client
Windows 2000 Pro desktop OS

I have checked a number of knowledge bases without any luck. I am thinking
that when the activities tab is clicked on a shared contact that it is trying
to access information that is not local to the local PC.

Your thoughts…

Thanks you in advance for any assistance you can give me.

This is normal behavior. The Activities tab performs the equivalent of a search of the mailbox owner's folders. The assistant likely doesn't have acces to all those folders. Even if she did, only an activities group that searches one folder at a time would work for the assistant.

Are you saying that I need to make her an Editor or Owner, under Delegates of
his entire mailbox?

Is this a feature that should work under a shared contact? It is sounding
like a security matter.

Thanks.

No, I'm saying that it's never going to work as you envision it. The best you might be able to do is get data from one folder at a time to show in the Activities page -- hardly a satisfactory outcome for most users.
