Error Message - RPC terminated unexpectedly

When starting computer, I get a message stating "Windows
must now restart. The Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
terminated unexpectedly." Sfter about 45 seconds the
computer restarts, and this starts all over again. What is
this and how can I fix this problem?

A well known worm (virus) for which you can only blame yourself.

1. Enable your firewall.
2. Download all the Critical MS updates.
3. Go to the Symantec website and get the Blaster removal tool.

You have the BLAST worm.

First, go to Control Panel - Admin Tools Services, double click 'Remote
Procedure Call' (first of two) and on the Recover page select First
Failure to be 'restart service, Apply, then for safety also Second
failure, same way.

You have the minute to do it in, it will then give you breathing space
to:

In Network Connections, r-click your connection, Properties, Advanced
and check 'Enable firewall'.

Then go to

and get the VBS script to clean up - that also has a link to the
Microsoft patch that plugs the vulnerability. But keep the firewall (or
a third party one) in use
