My computer runs 24*7, as is Outlook 2003 (on Exchange 2003).

Most mornings when I turn on my monitor, there is an Outlook pop-up
waiting for me
"A programs still has file attachment C:\Documents and
Settings\username.DOMAIN\Local Settings\Te... open. Changes to this
document will be lost unless you save your changes to another file by
clicking the File menu in the other program, and then clicking Save As."

There is no "other program" running, there is no message open, in fact I
perfectly don't understand what the message means.

Clicking 'OK' will make the message disappear, and everything will be
fine. I am just wondering where it is coming from and what it means...?

It means you opened mail by double clicking on it, then opened an attachment
directly from the open message by double clicking on it and then Closed the
original message. The warning then pops up because changes to the open
attachment cannot be saved to the original message anymore. So if you want
to save changes to the attachment, you'll have to save it to a proper
storage location (as currently it is opened from a Temp folder and that is
not where you want to save your modified documents to).

As for how that could happen; hard to say from this level of detail. It
could be that you still have something open but are not aware of it, the
application you opened didn't properly unload. Leaving on your computer
doesn't mean that you stay connected to Exchange. Your admin can have
enforced a "logon hours" restriction which means you could not be allowed to
make any network connections between 18:00 and 8:00 or so.

Thanks, Robert. I will try to recycle Outlook before I leave in the
evening, and see if this makes the message disappear. Anyway, it's not a
big deal.

A file in temp internet settings?
Doesn't sound like an Outlook issue. Check with your admin as to what might
be running.
