Error message on start up of Yahoo I.M.

I have installed, uninstalled, w/Norton, w/out Norton. Everytime I try to open Yahoo Messenger, I get an error message that says Microsoft has to close now and do I want to send the report. Have contacted Yahoo. They say to reinstall. Doesn't work. Program worked for one day only. Now constantly et the error message. Have deleted program from C files and Control panel. ANy ideas as to how to get it to work again?? Thanks
 
scanned for spyware yet....it's usually a good start to
trouble shooting.
