Error Message on Reboot

Mary Jo Martin

When rebooting my Win XP Pro workstation I get the
following error message: 104:qttask.exe. There is no disk
in the drive. Please insert a disk into
drive\Device\Harddisk1\DR2. Note that the \ mark should
be a backslash.

Any help/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mary Jo

Thanks, Servo. I finally found the error in the Knowledge
Base, so found out what you know. The solution is as
follows:

Insert a removable disk in the removable drive before you
start the computer.
Change the drive letter assignment for the removable drive
to a letter other than C.

To change the drive letter assignments in Windows XP,
follow these steps:
Log on to the computer as Administrator.
Insert a disk in the removable drive.
Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click
Manage.
Click Disk Management.
Right-click the partition, logical drive, or volume that
you want to change, and then click Change Drive Letter and
Paths.
Click the removable drive, click it, click Change, click
the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK.

I doubt that any of my removable drives are labelled "C,"
but will try this when I get home tonight.

Sigh - I know everyone hates MS, but what other options do
we have? Don't say Linux, I've been there too on a
security server we have at work and that's no picnic
either.
