Error Message on Boot-up

After downloading updates from Microsoft I now get this
message when I boot up my computer.:

The procedure entry point SmapLS could not be located in
the dynamic link library KERNEL 32.dll

I am running a x86 base computer and could not find an
exact problem match in you Knowledge Base. Doesanyone
know how I can fix this problem?

Did you install driver updates for your soundcard from Windows Update?
Rollback the driver from the Device Manager in the System applet in
Control Panel. Do not install drivers from Windows Update.

Hi,

I have about 90 customers getting this error on Win 2000 and Win XP
computers "The procedure entry point SMapLS could not be located in the
dynamic link library KERNEL32.DLL".

Does anyone knows what the cause of this is and how do I fix this.

This is costing me a lot of money.

Found this on the net :
PROBLEM: Error message that reads: "The procedure entry point SMapLS could
not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"
SOLUTION: If you get this message when opening the control panel on
WindowsXP/2000 that means you have remnants of the Windows 98/ME driver on
your system.

So I think you are using a some kind of function which uses this SMapLS
which isn't available on w2k an XP.
