Error message - NMI Parity Check/memory parity error

Hello

Can anyone help me with this blue screen error message? Haven't come
across anything very helpful on the net so far.

It appears when Windows XP Professional is shut down and the computer
now does not turn off automatically, but nothing else seems to be wrong:-

" Hardware Malfunction
Call your Hardware Vendor for Support
NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
* ** The system has halted *** "

First showed up about a week ago, no new hardware installed in that
time frame. A second hard disk was installed about three weeks before
the message first appeared.

- everything appears to be working OK
- the memory showing on Belarc matches the physical installed memory -
384 MB with 64 MB reserved for video
- the computer (Dell P3) is not running more slowly than usual
- the two hard disks appear to be working fine - 1 x 6 GB, 1 x 40 GB
- all other hardware appears to be working fine
- all anti-virus and anti-malware software is current and run very
regularly. No problems popping up.

Any help appreciated.

Regards
Echy

This is for sure a hardware problem. See "Hardware Malfunction Results
in System Error Message" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315223).
