Error message MAPI32.DLL. How to reinstall?

After a major computer malfunction that has thankfully been taken care of, my
Outlook 2003 won't launch and it says erroe message: MAPI32.DLL and that I
have to reinstall outlook. Is this really necessary, will I lose all my
contact info and if I do have to reinstall, do I do it from the Windows XP
reinstallation cd?

First see if runnign fixmapi helps:
1. Quit all programs.
2. Rename the Mapi32.dll file in the C:\Windows\System32 folder to
"Mapi32.old" (without quotation marks).
3. Locate the Fixmapi.exe file in the C:\Windows\System32 folder, and
then double-click Fixmapi.exe to run the program.
4. Restart your computer.
