error message in changing computer name

"multiple connections to a server or shared resource by
the same user, using more than one user name, are not
allowed. disconnect all previous connections to server or
shared resource and try again."

this is an xp pro machine. trying to change the computer
name. and it stops me. can you advise please?

This usually indicates some mapping to a shared folder or printer. Try
running this command before changing the name
net use * /delete
