Error message "Database has been placed in a state" etc.

Hi, I originally posted this in access.multiuser but haven't received answer
so I'm trying cross posting. I don't usually do this but I'm under some
pressure.

I have a Access 2000 multi-user database with one backend and multiple
frontends. One user sporadically receives this message: "The database has
been placed in a state by user 'Admin' on machine 'MachineName' that
prevents it
from being opened or locked."

When the user presses OK, the db opens. There is no security levels on the
db but it has be developed so no one can see any objects except what they
are
supposed to.

The knowledge base refers to article # 248967 saying that the problem was
resolved in SR-1/1a. All service releases have been installed so that can't
be the problem.

Any suggestions? Operating system is Win 2000. It's annoying the users and
I truly can't find a reason for this and can't reproduce it on my pc.

Thanks.

Does she get this message in the FE or the BE?

We've seen this message for ordinary corruptions too.

Tony, thanks for answering my question.

It's only happened in the front end and not all of them. I'm told it happen
sporadically. I do know that the machine it last happened on has had all of
the service releases installed. They did fax me a screen print of the error
the error is stated exactly as I presented it below.

Do you think you can help?
Thanks.
