Error message closing out of PowerPoint

i open it, use it, and close it, then i get a message: "powerpoint has
stoppped working"..."a problem caused the program to stop working correctly"
then there is a button that says "close program". its a brand new dell
laptop with new office software. have already uninstalled and re-installed
office. any ideas?

Have you installed Service Pack 1 and searched for other Updates?

It turns out I needed to install both Service Pack 1 and a new set of drivers
for my HP printer.
