error message/ can't play

I've had a lot of trouble getting my Windows Movie Maker to work at all. I
can drop clips onto my time line and add fades, but the minute I try to play
or save, I get an error message saying:

The instruction at "0x1d1cc96d" referenced memory at "0x0d9d6000". The
memory could not be "written."

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help me. Thanx,

Sounds like either a bad installation or a filetype problem.

As to the 1st possibility what version of WMM are you using?
If you click on "Help->About Movie Maker" the pop-up window will tell
you the version #.
This information is needed to tell you how to proceed to reinstall WMM.
As to the 2nd possibility what are the types of files in your project?
Certain files do not work well, if at all, with WMM such as MPG, JPG,
and MP3 files.
