Out of nowhere I now get the following error message
every time I startup:
"Error loading C:\windows\downloaded program
files\bridge.dll"

Any clue how to fix or what caused it to show up in the
first place?
I have a Dell Dimension 8240 and run Windows XP Home

thanks

You have spyware on your system. Remove spyware with Spybot Search &
Destroy from www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs before running
them. These programs are free, so run them both since they complement
each other. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal tools in
Safe Mode. You may also need to run CWShredder and HijackThis from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html . Please read the
instructions carefully. Hijackthis requires skill to use. Also, make
sure you've visited Windows Update and applied all security patches. Do
not install driver updates from Windows Update. Make sure you are
running a firewall and current antivirus using updated definitions.

I am also searching for the answer to this, it started to
do this after I loaded software for new hp2510 network
printer and adaware 6 software, dont know if this has
anything to do with it.

See my answer previously in this thread. Two easy ways to find things
out: 1) search the newsgroups either through the web interface
(horrible) or Google Groups (great) for "bridge.dll"; 2) search regular
Google for "bridge.dll". You'll get tons of links with the answer.
