Error message at startup

Running windows 2000. Recently, at startup I get an error
message "svchost.exe has generated an error. Windows will
be shut down. You must restart your computer".
In some cases I still can continue, but the computer hangs
after a while. Tried knowledge base. Could be a virus.
Have however the latest Norton Antivirus and have had no
reactions from that side.
Anyone?

Open Taskmanager and look for the msblast.exe, mspatch.exe or
teekids-proces. Kill it and go to www.sophos.com\support\desinfection to get
the removaltool. After that install ms03-039 from microsoft to prevent from
happening again.
