error message 0x80004003

When the windows defender screen is opened and I try to click on the "start
scan" button and erro message occurs saying"Windows Defender encountered an
errror: 0x800004003. Invalid pointer" Has anyone else had this happen? What
is the remedy? (I know if I hit the Scan icon at the top of the windows the
scan will work but is there someway to make the "scan start" button work?

Hello mowersg,

This is a well documented issue which has been posted across, in particular,
the Announcement and General Discussion newsgroups. There has also been some
input from the MSFT guys regarding the issue. Using the search function type:
`Invalid Pointer` and you will see what I mean.

I had it happen this morning. I removed, then installed Windows Defender and
it functioned properly.
