This error comes up repeatedly after a KB update was put
on my system. I tried going back to a previous Restore
point before possible update. I recall a compatibility
notice warning of windows file replacement, with no
possible alternative except continuous boxes popping up.
It also says that "The specified module could not be
found" below "error loading wincore.dll". Another error
concerns the error loading DLL for winupdate when I
access something like Outlook Express or Internet
Explorer. One possibility was that I didn't load the
update while logged in as Admin, but I have Admin rights
otherwise under my Local login. I am functioning ok, just
having annoying error boxes mentioned.

This adware program may arrive through the Web, manual installation, or as a downloaded program. It also arrives packaged with the famous peer-to-peer (P2P) application called FreeWire.

Upon execution, this adware program downloads updates of the following .DLL files to be used as components of the adware package:

SpOrder.dll
Wincore.dll
CidRules.dll
Inetadpt.dll
WinUpd.dll
Monitor_ch.dat
The updated files are saved in this folder:

%temp%\vupd
It then copies these files from %temp%\vupd to the %System% folder.

(Note: %temp% refers to the temporary folder, which is usually C:\Windows\temp. %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 95, 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, and C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP.)

On systems running Windows 95, 98, and ME, this adware program modifies WININIT.INI so that it can copy the updated WINUPD.DLL even if the original WINUPD.DLL is in use.

Registry Modification

It creates a number of entries in following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TargetSoft

Maybe this helps.
