Athlon XP Pro system with AVG antivirus and free version
Zonealarm

On system startup/restart - after selecting any user the
system halts with;

Error loading c:\windows\systm32\MSA64CHK.dll
The specified module could not be found

Please, what is this? The system continues to load and
work fine. It is just an annoyance to me but I would still
like to see the back of it.

Any ideas, thnxs in anticipation.

This is the remenience on spyware, trojan, or virus on you machine. Try
running MSCONFIG (Start --> Run --> type "msconfig" --> select startup)
Deselect any reference to the msa64chk.dll

This is associated with a dialer, malware you don't want.

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should run
update and run them weekly.
