Error In System Restore

I'm using windows vista home premium, i tried using my system restore
yesterday but after it finished an error popped up sayin that system restore
wasn't successfull! so what went wrong? and how can i fix it?

If you are using Norton, disable it before using SR.
And make sure all programs you are using are closed.

Mr. Murphy has already suggested that the Norton issue may be the cause
