error in sending email, cannot send

The host 'hotmail' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered
the server name correctly.
Subject 'test', Account: 'hotmail', Server: 'hotmail', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I get this error report when trying to send an email. Can anyone help me
with this?

Sure.

First, you need to use server names that reflect servers that actually
exist. It won't work if you make the names up.

Second, Hotmail doesn't offer POP access everywhere.

I too get this, it stops me taking part in discussions because although I
have tried to uninstall and reinstall its still the same-just keeps telling
me webmail is not installed correctly. I dont think I installed it, it was
just there when I bought PC. Dare'nt send emails in case someone receives
something they cannot relate too!
