#error in my IIF statement (currency issue)

I've had too much to drink tonight and my wife doesnt want to have sex
with me
but it's broken my concentration and I cant get my IIF statement to
work. I'm tyring to setup an iif where iff the AMOUNTPAID colunm
equals a certain number, then the expression returns "A Positive
REsult","or a negative result" and it gives me the #error, here we go:

iif([amountPAID]="500","1000","1200")

returns #error

The amountPAID column is a currency column what "strings" do I use?
