error during upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade from 98 to xp home edition. I get
the following:
Error: 5FDFF58h
contact Microsoft Support

I don't know what I need to do to get this fixed. Any
ideas?

And you are not doing as the error message says because????

Try the basics: Disable antivirus software, and also any bios-level av
detection routine. Clear \temp folders and try again.
