Error during upgrade to WIN 2000

While upgradng from WIN 98SE to WIN 2000 PRO, during the initial preparation phase the upgrade gets an WINNT32 error: Program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Detail:
Invalid page fault in Module KERNEL32.DLL at 017F:Bff88396
 
Don't upgrade - do a clean installation. With an upgrade you inherit all the
problems that you had with Win98.
