Error Deleting File or Folder

I have an Adobe AI. file that's stuck on my CD writing drive. The message
says: Error Deleting File or Folder ______.ai: It is being used by another
person or program. Please close any programs that ...... and try again.
There's notheing else running, so I am at a loss. Any suggestions?
