I recently bought a book from Peachpit which included a CD. When I try
to copy the exercise_files from the CD to my hard drive (Windows XP Pro
SP2) I receive two types of errors on just a few files: (1) Cannot copy
<filename>: Cannot read from the source file or disk and (2) Cannot
copy <filename>: The parameter is incorrect. When I take that same CD
and perform the copy on a different PC (WIndows XP Home SP2) the copy
works fine. I receive error (1) above on source filename: "D:\exercise
files\chap_10\assets\topNav\_notes\_notes\dwsync.xml" and I receive
error (2) above on source filename: "D:\exercise
files\chap_14\assets\topNav\_notes\properties.gif.mno" Any ideas why
I'm receiving these errors on one system and not the other? Customer
service at Peachpit and lynda.com were not helpful.

Either the CD or your CD drive are marginal. I would replace
the CD drive - it doesn't cost much.
