Hi, recently both of my pc and lappy make a problems and it shows the above
code. I would like to know what is the problem causing it? So far what I've
done was:

PC - Intel Dual Core 2160, Foxconn Mars, 4 GB RAM, Nvidia 8800GT, Win XP Pro.
Lappy - Compaq CQ40 125AX, 4 GB RAM, ATi 3200, Win XP Pro.

1) Use system restore to the previous setup. (Fail)
2) Run scan disk and disk defragment ( Fail)
3) Remove RAM and run diagnostic for MEMTEST (Fail)
4) Remove both GPU driver and update the latest driver. (Fail)

Is there any other method that I can do? Thank you.

Please recheck the Bug Check code in the Stop Error code. It contains at
least one extra character and has me wondering whether there are further
errors. This makes searching prone to error. Your report is extremely
rare.

How frequently is the error occuring? Does it occur in Safe Mode? Does
it occur during the boot process, after the boot has completed or both
during and after?

How many memory sticks are installed? Are they all as originally
supplied when you purchased the computer new?

Your laptop was intended for use with Vista. How and where did you
obtain Windows XP drivers?

According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817789 it's possibly
related to the storport driver. Is this 64-bit XP? XP SP3? More info
needed.

Thanks for your advice. The error code is 0x000000d1 (0x00000000, 0x0000002,
0x0000008, 0x00000000). It happens for both normal mode and safe mode until
the log in screen it will prompt the error code.

The memory were slot in 4x1gb (Desktop), 2x2GB (Lappy). Both has been tested
running on MEMTEST32 but no error found on the RAM. Even I'm using the pair
of rams and single ram also to no avail. The rams was purchased from the same
local vendor where I purchased both my lappy and desktop.

The lappy drivers I found in the HP forums where they claimed that it can be
used on this lappy.

Can we concentrate on resolving the problem on the laptop and leave the
desktop for later. If your priority is to fix the desktop then please
advise the desktop make and model? Trying to fix two computers at the
same will only cause one or both of us to become confused as to what we
are saying to each other.

Does the error code occur on the laptop?

Is the memory in the laptop entirely new? If yes, have you tried
removing the new memory and putting back the original memory?

You would not find drivers in "HP Forums". You may have been told where
to go to get drivers? Where did you go the get the drivers? What drivers
did you get?

If the error occurs before log in how are you able to attempt to run
Disk Defragmenter. You cannot try to run Disk Defragmenter until after
you have logged on!
