I tried to perform some clean-up maintenace on my Father's computer and ran
the diskscan tool to check the hard drive for errors. The system hung when
it finished the security descriptior scan (3 of 3). When I re-booted and
started the scan again it indicated "Correcting error in index $SII for file
9" and a second message sayng the same thing for $SDI for file 9". This time
when the last part of the scan started running I kept getting the message
"Inserting an index entry within id #### into $SII for file 9", where "####"
was an actual number that kept increasing. After watching it go up to over
6000, I manually shut down the computer and re-booted. I skipped the error
check and it booted normally. I did get an error message about the recycle
bin being corrupt and after emptying it, it was fine.
What is this error? Can anyone desribe what happened..maybe why?
