Error: cannot read from source drive or disk?

a workbook was saved to a floppy from excel xp. I then opened and added to
it using windows 2000 and then saved to floppy. (the information was useless
to me, but extremely important to the person i was helping and I DID NOT save
it to my computer) now when the information is trying to be retreived from
the floppy i'm getting the error: cannot read from source drive or disk.
Please- any information on opening this file would be greatly appreciated -
it took me 8 hours to imput...

Seems you've found out the hard way why you should never save directly to a
floppy disk from Excel, because the result is usually a corrupted file. Use
My Computer or Windows Explorer to copy files from the floppy to your hard
drive, work on the file there, and after you've finished editing and saving
the file to your hard drive and closed the file and Excel, use My Computer or
Windows Explorer to copy the file back to the floppy.
