Error - "An error occurred while getting information for the devic

I'm using Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2003. I frequently get the error
message, "An error occurred while getting information for the device". For
example, while recording video and narration for a slide presentation, I
receive this error message literally after every slide advance. Any ideas
why?...or how I can correct it?

After reading your suggestion I went back and double-checked. No, I do not
have any other apps running and I continue to receive the error message.
