Thats becuase Vista takes 512mb RAM at least a 2Ghz cpu.... so if you have
768 mb of ram... u install vista on ur virtual machine, and the REAL
computer will just crash... thats why you get that error... =D

Hi Mike,
Host computer has 1GB ram and 60GB partition, and 3GB processor, so it
should be able to handle it, looking at the system monitor when instaling
vista on virtual pc ram usage was only at 468MB, perhaps vista is not
compatible with virtual pc.

thanks

Is there anyway to narrow the problem down to, for example, the optical
drive on your target machine? Is there another machine you can run Virtual
Server 2005 R2 on and attempt the installation of a Vista vm as a test?

(The virtual cd drive in VPC will not support a disc over 2.2GB. The one in
VS does.)

If you can install a Vista vm on any machine then you can use a usb drive
hard drive to move the vm folder to the target machine and it will run under
either VS or VPC on the target machine just fine.
