Error 5 opening regisrty key

Guest

I'm getting an error when opening a web site in front page.

Server Error: Error 5 opening regisrty key "software\classes\.application".

Where in IIS or Front page can this be resolved?

I cannot find a document that address this issue. Hopefully someone has an
idea how to fix it.

Open FrontPage.
Click Help and then click "Detect and Repair."

Steve, I tried Detect and Repair it did not help.
I have several web sites on different servers. The problem exists on only
one server (several sites on each server). I asked the IIS and Windows 2003
server group they said it was front page and to submit it to the Front Page
group.

OK try this:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download and install
FP Cleaner.

Run the functions to clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the Cache(.web)
files.

Let us know if it helps.

I still receive the same error after running FP Cleaner. Cleaner found one
temporary file and 22 cached files. But did not help.

The MSSharePointAppPool application pool identity is using "Local System"

problem still exists

The problem is definitely on the Server as anyone using any PC has the same
problem.

Suggest you post to the Windows or Sharepoint newsgroup.
