Error 404 Page Cannot be Displayed

I cannot get to certain web sites anylonger when I know
they are still valid addresses. Keep getting error 404
page cannot be displayed...I can connect remote to my
office computer and get same page using office
IE....However, I want to know how to fix whatever is
wrong on home computer as I cannot always get through to
work server....
 
I had a similar problem on 2 computers - received input
from Microsoft over 7 months that did not work. Finally, I
received the following: "run a search for files
names "hosts" (no quotes) in the cab/driver folder. If it
appears, change the name or delete it. No reboot
required...if you find it and change it, you should be
back in business. Good luck.
