"Error 1919. Error configuring ODBC data source" error message when I tried
to install Office XP or an Office XP program

Thus far, I’ve tried the following:

Starting at http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=324520. . . I
tried to complete Method #1 and Method #2 (OEM option)…and I was unsuccessful
w/ both. One option wouldn’t permit me to complete the process
(incompatible w/ my system) and the other prompted me to use “MDAC 2.8 SP1 on
Windows XP SP2â€; so, I first tried to install “MDAC 2.8 SP1†from the
following link (http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/downloads/default.aspx)
again no luck…so I then tried to reinstalled Windows XP SP2….again
nothing.....grrrr

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

V/R,

Steve

Shek, I had the same problem and I just completed the "Method 3" and the
software now installs and seems to operate fine. I didn't network the 2
computers together, I just exported the 2 regs to a jump drive and imported
them into my puter just as the rest of the instructions describe. I still
have them on my jump drive if you don't have access to retreive them from a
second machine. Email me at (e-mail address removed)

Thank you....I'll give it a shot..
