Error 1913 installing Office 2003

Have tried repeatedly to install Office 2003 on Vista Business. All programs
install fine..except Outlook. The error 1913 "Setup cannot update file"
message pops up. I have tried all the admin rights stuff that the forums are
full of. No difference. I found this from Microsoft....year 2003 for NT and
2000. This sounds like the problem and solution...so why not a fix for Vista?

Any help appreciated....

Hello stumped,

Did you also change the permissions and take ownership? It's not just the
disabling UAC, you also have to change the permissions of the files and set
the owner to administrator so that you can take full control of the file. To
do this right click on the file and click properties > security tab >
Advanced button > Owner tab > > Click Edit... > Choose Administrators >
Click OK > Go back to the Properties window (On the security tab) > Click
Edit... > Click on Administrators > Check all the boxes under "Allow" >
Click OK. This might help in actually letting the system replace the files.
