Error 1726-unable to save password/login username

Help,

Unable to save username and password in XP Home edition. It allows me to
logon; though I have to enter name/pwd each time I login.

Do u want to make Xp automatically login:

1. Click Start | Run | "Control Userpasswords2"
2. Uncheck "Users must enter a username and ......"

Tried that and did a complete "Repair Installation" still does not allow
me to save dialup username and password.
