Hi,

I have a task to update automatically Antivirus every hour and this morning my computer configured with Windows XP SP2 give me an error 1723 and tell me that a DLL is Missing when the task is called.

I tried to uninstall Antivirus and reinstall it from scratch, and I got all the time this error everytime I reinstall it.

I would go to the web site for whomever developed your antivirus program -
they may have instructions for an uninstall-reinstall.

For example, if you have Norton Antivirus 2004 installed the instructions
are at
http://tinyurl.com/yuqsn

Or if it is Norton Antivirus 2005, then you would go to
http://tinyurl.com/42sp6

For all other antivirus applications you should be able to find their
support page with Google.

I was able to uninstall my Antivirus and clean my registry completely, but I was no longer able to re-install it.

Also, I tried to re-install with a full version and I got the same error message.

Thanks for support.

Can you save the install program on your hard drive so you can try to
install it with any firewall(s) disabled and disconnected from your ISP?

See if PC Bug Doctor finds any problems - especially with Windows Installer.
(Although error 1723 usually indicates a problem with the software you are
trying to install.)
http://www.windows-repairs.com/
Note: I've used this free download many times with no known negative impact
on my XP installation. And always tell it to fix all errors found..

Also check Event Viewer for clues - e.g., anything in 'Application' or
'System' flagged with a red X.
Start > Run and type
eventvwr.msc
click OK

Scan for spyware and adware just to make sure you are not trying to
troubleshoot an OS with multiple problems.

Finally, for the same reason, you should consider an online scan.
