Error 1706

Everytime I restart my computer it looks like Windows XP is trying to
reinstall itself (maybe a virus has deleted a file)? Then I get the Error
1706. Can anyone help, very annoying, happens when I try to open outlook,
windows, word, everything. I received this computer with XP installed so I
don't have the CD, like it keeps asking me to put in....

Let the Windows Installer run fully, and finally note down the conflicting
<application name>.

If you have the setup CD for the <application name>, try this:

Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run it.
Select the <application name> from the installed products list and remove
the Windows Installer information for the product. This should fix the
current problem. Then reinstall the <application name> from the CD.
