Error 1608

I'm trying to install MO power point 2003 on my computer. I have MO Basic
Edition on the the computer. the error message says that it cannot find
microsoft office 97, 2000, or xp. what do i need to do to install this
program onto my computer? will i be able to install power point 2003 onto my
computer with office basic already installed?

Seems like setup issues based on the version you already have installed.

The PowerPoint 2003 Upgrade cannot be applied to Office 2003 Basic Edition. You
need the Full Standalone version of PowerPoint 2003. See the specifics at:

This may not even be close, but it's the closest I could find to my issue.

My laptop was returned with a new internal drive. All material was restored
via backup. But when I try to install the MCO 2000 Standard (yes it's old,
but it works) on MC XP Home, I get the message "error 1608" program could not
be found on the computer.

Can anyone offer any clues?
