Error 1083

I have a three-computer home network (two desktop, one laptop) running XP
Home Edition. I have lost my ability to connect to the network on one of the
desktop computers. When I trobuleshot this connection, I found that none of
the network services were running, and when I try to run them manually I am
getting an error message "error 1083: the executable program that this
service is configured to run in does not implement the service". Any ideas on
how I can fix this? Thanks!

In Admin Tools, Services, look at the Service property for whatever service
is failing, specifically "Path to Executable". Compare this to a working PC.

In my case, Error 1083 was related to Terminal Services failing to start,
which of course caused other services and more event log errors to occur.

Turns out that one of 'Kelly's Korner" reg patchs is suspect, fus.reg.
TS executable was changed to ... -k netsvrs
I checked a few other XP Pro PCs and they all had ... -k DComLaunch
As soon as I make the switch in the registry, all was well.
