Hi,

We observed 0x800706ba error while trying to access an object running on
another PC with XP SP2 beta. We observed some packets dropped by XP SP2
built-in firewall on random ports while the access was made .

We would like to know how to eliminate this error?

Other information:

Firewall is on
The print and file sharing is enabled
UPnp is enabled
Incoming ICMP echo is enabled
Default DCOM permissions on XP SP2 are made similar to Default permissions
of XP without SP2.
We have set following flags in the registry:
\\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC\EnableAuthEpResolution=1
(DWORD)
\\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC\RestrictRemoteClients=0
(DWORD)
And added the service in the exceptions list.

Thanks and Best regards,

- Abhay

Could you possibly describe the repro steps:
What is running (what object) and what you are trying to access and how?
More important, does this happend to XPSP1 / XP ?
Please post this infor to the newsgroup.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Yuriy

Hi,

There is a DCOM component registered on another PC and we want to create it
from the first PC.
It was working properly on XP SP1 and XP. On XP2, disabling the firewall
allows us to access the object, but that violates the security policy.

Thanks,

- Abhay
