Error 0210: Stuck Key

My HP laptop with XP Home Edition recently has been
beeping repeatedly when I cold boot or reboot the
machine. I typically halt the annoying beep by either
pressing F10 (for diagnostic tool), F2 (to enter the BIOS
setup) or CTRL ^C. Subsequently, a screen comes up which
exhibits the BIOS edition, etc. and reports that BIOS is
shadowed. Also this screen reports "ERROR 0210: STUCK
KEY". From a physical examination and trial of the
keyboard, none of the keys are stuck, yet this error
message repeatedly comes up. I bypass this beeping /
error message condition by either running the diagnostic
tool (which shows that there is no hardware failure - all
tests are passed) OR by just exiting the diagnostic tool
from its load page. Then after one or two tries of this
procedure, Windows loads and takes me to the logon
prompt, where most times I am able to successfully log
on. Sometimes at the logon prompt, and even in MS Word,
the system just goes on and enter characters without me
even touching the keyboard. NOTE: All this happens
before I even physically insert my CAT5 network cable.

Another thing that has been happening lately, is that
sometimes when I am in IE Web browser, the drop down menu
with the history of the last set of visited web sites
just frantically keep dropping down several times in a
given minute without me even touching the computer.

Does anyone know why these weird things are happening
with this machine?

Thanks
