equal sign in function bar

How do I replace the fx with the equal sign in the
function bar like it was in excel 2000? I used this
option a lot and it's frustrating not to be able to
customize the equal sign into this area of excel.

Gone as of 2002. No work-arounds.

You can move the = sign to your Toolbar but it does not bring up the Function
Wizard so is useless except for not having to type the = sign. Wheeee!!

Was not a popular move on the developers' part.

Thanks Gord, not the answer I was hoping for.

So here's my next question..... the way I used the "=" sign
was if I had a value existing in a cell then wanted to make
it a formula, I would just go up and click the "=". It
would then add the "=" to the front of my value and then
position the curser at the end so that I could quickly make
and adjustments to formula. Now with the new setup, this
requires a lot more mouse clicks and keyboard adjustments.
Is there still a way to perform this operation as I just
explained, if not, may I make a suggestion to Microsoft to
include something to do this. I'm not happy about all the
extra keystrokes it now takes.

Thanks again!

Seems you're stuck with F2 to edit in the formula bar.

The fx button brings up the Function Wizard which will not do what you ask.

Perhaps the next version will bring back the = sign.

It has been requested of the development team by the MVP's when asked for
input.
