Epson CX5200

I have an Epson CX5200 and have tried to use clone (chipped) replacement
cartridges.

The cartridge wrapping tells you to respond with YES to an on-screen
warning. This may work with the C70 & C80
but the CX5200 does not generate an on screen warning. The LCD display
gives an error message, as does the setup utilities.

Can anyone out there help!!

You may like to try this as a similar thing happened with a C80 and Epson
895 to me. Things appear to go around in an endless loop with the cartridge
being rejected - as liable to be swapped - and you never get to the accept
screen.
In my case this was because the contacts were damp with ink. You should see
them in the cartridge cavity at the back where the cart's slide in: thin
contact wires. Gently stroking down with an ear bud swab and maybe using a
little alcohol - and on the green chip contacts to remove any traces of
grease.
It seems as if the contacts are nor registering to me.
