Epson 4870 vs Minolta or Nikon MF film scanner

Is there a site with a Medium Format slide scanned with the 4870 and a Film
Scanner where the scans are posted as a JPG and where I can download and
print them to compare.

I need this for Monday as my Camera club want to make a decision on buying a
PC and a 4870 or a MF Film Scanner and users can then take it for a week or
so at a time and scan at home on their own PC's.

Due to the price of the MF film scanners

Would anyone like to opinion on the older Minolta Scan Multi without DICE
and scanning MF at approx
1200 dpi. It is a SCSI connection.

In this case will it be up to the Epson 4870 standard.

Although not all of the same film/frame, there are several examples of same
sized scans on http://www.terrapinphoto.com/jmdavis/ . A larger / smaller
film only means you need to enlarge less / more, so you could upscale (and
crop) the smaller images to reflect a comparable Field of View to a larger
film.

A true film scanner will be much better than the flatbed 4870.
However, many people find the 4870 good enough for MF with reasonable
sized enlargements (9x or so max).
I have some discussions of this on my web site. Follow the tips link
on the home page.
