Epson 4180 streak when scanning negative

P

Paul Gupta

Greetings, I just bought the Epson 4180 and tried scanning negatives
with it. In a couple of my 35mm negative scans, I see a red and a
green streak horizontally across the image - could it be the negative?
I cannot see the streak in the negative but of course it would not
show up without a loupe or magifier.

Also, to my dismay, although I shot my 35mm with a good SLR, it had
significant grain in it, but that's probably my fault, not the
scanner.

Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks,

Paul

Make sure the glass area under where the calibration notch is cut out at the
top of the holder is absolutely spot, dust and grime free. Often the
slightest foreign material can produce these streaks.
