I want to insert a link in a word document to another document on my
computer. Because the documents are located in different folders on different
computers, i want to insert an environment variable in the link. i.e.
%myfolder%\filename
Is this possible.

Oh! Good question.

I think the answer is "No" but I am not in a position to test at the moment.
The problem is that links in Word are resolved internally, it does not shell
out to the operating system in which the environment variables reside. I
think they're in visible within Word.

Could you use Hyperlinks with entries in the HOSTS file?
