Environment variables in login

I'm trying to use the %homeshare% variable in a group policy login script
only it doesn't seem to work. An echo %homeshare% returns a blank and the set
command doesn't list this variable.

However, once the explorer shell has loaded this variable is available. This
is very annoying as I need to copy something to the users home drive in the
login script. The home drive as defined in the AD object is not mapped until
the explorer shell has loaded either.

Has anyone enounctered this problem before?

I've configured the login scripts to run asynchronously to work around this.
This may cause some further issues later on but it would appear to be all I
can do!

If anyone else has any ideas then I'm all ears!
