Entering Japanese 'furigana' (phonetic characters)

Working with the Japanese IME global, I am trying to add furigana to
characters that I have entered and also previously existing characters.
Furigana are phonetic hiragana or characters that make up the kanji or
chinese charaters that are used in the Japanese writing system.
I know about the Rubi platform, and know how to use it, but I can not find
it on my Japanese Global IME system.

talks about how to use the Japanese IME in Office XP. The
article doesn't say anything about furigana, so maybe furigana is
not supported.
